As working engineers, we know that there is a difference in the picture that is painted about independent gas installers in the media and reality. We have experience of having to pass on exorbitant costs of spare parts to customers and are on the receiving end of being blamed for them. We read the technical bulletins and unsafe situation procedures and have to balance those against the wishes of our customers who want low prices. All we ask is that those who write these documents take account of the views from those on the tools. Our industry, which is professional with an excellent safety record, is represented by large companies and the smaller companies views are not.
